ShareGate Migrate could not create credentials for the user, make sure ShareGate Migrate has authority on the domain
Updated this week

Symptoms

When trying to import from Google Drive by using an admin account, the following error is shown:

Sharegate could not create credentials for the user 'user name', make sure Sharegate has authority on the domain 'domain name'.

Error code

  • GD-012-232

  • Any error code ending in -232.

Details

In order for ShareGate Migrate to import all your users' content from Google Drive to SharePoint, the app needs to be able to create credentials for all your users. To do this, you need to delegate domain-wide authority to ShareGate Migrate so the app can impersonate your users.

Note: The app impersonates you in order to connect to the environment and perform actions using ShareGate Migrate. Your network identifies this as an application performing actions and not you directly. For more information, see Which permissions does the Azure ShareGate Migrate application need?

Solution

To fix this issue follow the Setup instructions in the Administrator Mode documentation.
