With Import from Google Drive, Copy from Gmail, and the migration assessment, you can connect Google Workspace to import your Google Drive files to Microsoft 365, copy your Gmail inboxes to Exchange Online, and run migration assessments to better prepare for these operations.
Note: The migration assessment is currently only available to select partners.
Obtain Super Admin permission
You need Super Admin permissions to use Administrator mode with Import from Google Drive. Otherwise, you can only access your own drive.
Additionally, you will need the role to use Copy from Gmail and the Migration assessment in your Google Workspace environment.
You can verify that you have Super Admin permissions in your Google Apps admin console, and you can ask another Super Admin for that role if you don't have it.
To help another admin grant you the role, you can share Google's article, Make a user an admin with them.
Note: You must have a valid license with the Super Admin role.
Authorize third-party app access for ShareGate
Delegate domain-wide authority to the ShareGate Migrate service account.
For detailed steps, see Add ShareGate Migrate to the Google Workspace allowlist for Google Drive migrations.
Once everything is set up, you can select administrator mode when connecting to your Google Workspace with Import from Google Drive or Copy from Gmail.
Note: When you log in as an administrator, the ShareGate Migrate view differs from the normal Google Drive explorer. The root folder will be the domain from which you logged in. This may not be the primary domain associated with your Google Apps account.
