Access your legacy Protect archives

How to access legacy archived content in ShareGate Protect using the direct URL

If you were a ShareGate Protect customer before the transition to the new Protect experience, you may need to retrieve content you previously archived with the legacy Management feature.

The Legacy Archive button may no longer appear in the Protect sidebar. You can still access your legacy archives directly using the URL below.

Access your legacy archives

If you can't find the legacy archive button in ShareGate Protect, go to https://protect.sharegate.com/archives/.

Note: To access your legacy archives, you must sign in with a Microsoft 365 Global, SharePoint, or Groups admin account. Without one of these roles, you'll get a 403 Forbidden error.

How long you'll have access

You'll keep access to your legacy archives until 30 days after your ShareGate Protect subscription ends, or until December 30, 2026, whichever comes first. After that date, legacy archives are removed permanently and can no longer be viewed or restored, even with an active subscription.

Note: This doesn't affect the current Archiving feature in ShareGate Protect, which uses Microsoft 365's native archive capabilities. Only content archived through the legacy Management feature, before August 2025, is affected.

Things to know

  • The first time you access archives from a new browser or computer, you may be prompted to go through the consent wizard. Complete the wizard to connect your Microsoft tenant.

  • Mass export of archived data is not supported.

If you run into issues accessing your archives after following these steps, contact ShareGate support.
