Security settings let you classify a team or group as public or private, regulate its external sharing, and manage guest access.
You can apply security settings per team or group or use sensitivity tags to categorize while securing.
Note: A sensitivity mismatch can occur when a team or group's security settings do not align with its sensitivity tag. Sensitivity mismatches display in gold on the Manage page and in the team and group details header. For detailed information on how to resolve sensitivity mismatches, see Sensitivity mismatch.

How to
Customize the security settings of a team or group
To apply security settings at the team or group level:
Select Manage from the sidebar.
Choose between your tenant's Teams, Team sites, or Communication sites.
The security settings are located in the header of the team and group details.Use the 3 dropdown menus in the header to define the security settings for that team or group.
Tip: Alternatively, you can apply a sensitivity tag from the header. In the example above, the General sensitivity tag applies the security settings attributed to that tag.
Use sensitivity tags
Use sensitivity tags to apply security settings to teams and groups while also categorizing them based on their data sensitivity level.
When you create a sensitivity tag, you choose the combination of security settings you feel best represents that tag. The security settings of teams and groups are updated when a sensitivity tag is applied.
You can apply a sensitivity tag and its security settings:
