The term could not be found in the destination term set
Updated over 2 weeks ago

Symptoms

When doing a pre-migration check or copying a site object, the following message is displayed:

The term 'My Term' could not be found in the destination term set 'My Term Set'.
โ€‹

Error code

  • ST-169-012

Details

The message is displayed when a term used by the source column was not migrated successfully and is missing in the term set at your destination. This error can occur when a column is driven by a term set, which is filtered to only include terms under a specific term. The filter term could not be found at the destination.

Here is an example for a column named "Project" that is driven by a term set "Projects". The column Project is filtered to only show terms underneath the term "Construction Projects". Here is the term set:

  • Projects (Term Set)
    โ€‹

    • Construction Projects (Term)

      • Project A (Term)

      • Project B (Term)

    • ...

In this example, the error would mean that the term "Construction Projects" cannot be found in the " Projects" term set at the destination.

Solution

Create the missing term in your destination term set.

In the above example, "Construction Projects" should be created in the "Projects" term set at the destination.
