Cannot connect to the Office Graph
Updated this week

Symptoms

You receive this error message:

Cannot connect to the Office Graph. Operations on Microsoft 365 group members and owners will not be executed. Ensure the application was consented by a global administrator and try again.

Error code

  • AN-125-227

  • ST-385-227

Details

ShareGate Migrate can copy and manage Microsoft 365 Groups and Microsoft Teams through the Graph API.

Due to some security requirements of the Graph API, ShareGate Migrate needs consent to delegated and application permissions to perform most operations on your teams and groups.

In this case, you get this Cannot connect to Office Graph error because some permissions consent is required to add or remove Microsoft 365 Groups members and query group information.

The permissions needed in the Graph API require a Global Administrator to perform a one-time consent of our Azure ShareGate migration tool app.

Solution

You can get a Global Administrator to grant consent of the Azure ShareGate migration tool app. Once consented, you should be able to complete your migration with your Microsoft 365 Groups members and owners intact at the destination.
