When performing an Import from file share, you receive the following error message:
You cannot break inheritance for this item because there are too many items with unique permissions in this list.
Details
In SharePoint, the supported limit of unique permissions for items in a library is 50,000.
ShareGate Migrate will work to preserve file share permissions for items that have custom permissions.
If your import exceeds SharePoint's limit for unique permissions at the destination, you will receive an error message.
To address unique permissions, you can:
You might not need the original unique permissions from the source on your destination items. If that's the case, you can import your items without their custom permissions by turning off Custom Permissions in your copy options.
Import your content to multiple libraries to reduce the total number of unique permissions.
Tip: Before you import your documents without their unique permissions, you can create new permissions for your destination library or create a few folders with custom permissions that your documents will inherit to manage who can access them.
