Start using ShareGate

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Follow the steps below to start your migration project and secure your Microsoft 365 environment now.

Step 1 - Set up your ShareGate account

An account is required to use any ShareGate app.

You can create a new ShareGate account when you register for a ShareGate trial or by receiving an invitation from an owner of an existing account.

When an owner invites you, you will receive an email with the necessary information to create your ShareGate account.

You can also create a ShareGate account and register for a full-featured 15-day trial on our login page.

While you can create an account, you will still need an invitation from a workspace owner to gain access to ShareGate with an existing subscription.

For more information, see Manage access to ShareGate.

A business email address is required for your ShareGate account. Personal email domains, such as Hotmail or Gmail, or disposable email services like trashmail.org, are not accepted.

Step 2 - Explore our features

ShareGate Protect

For the initial connection only, a global administrator must consent to a set of Microsoft 365 permissions and assign the Assessor role to the user account that will be running the assessment.

For more information, see Governance risk assessment overview.

ShareGate Migrate

  1. In ShareGate Home, select Open under Migrate your data to open ShareGate Migrate.

    • If you haven't downloaded ShareGate Migrate yet, select Download Migrate.

    • Launch the Sharegate.exe file on your machine.

For more information and a detailed how-to, see Installation - ShareGate Migrate.
