Generally, the Server extension is not required to perform your migration but can sometimes be necessary. For more details about the Server extension, when it is needed, and how to install it, see Installation - Server extension.
License activation
For instructions on how to activate your license, see License activations.
Considerations when installing ShareGate Migrate on a remote server
ShareGate Migrate must remain open at least in the system tray for operations such as scheduled tasks.
Your operations will not run if you are logged off or in sleep mode. They will run if your system is locked.
When using a virtual machine (VM), you need to have a persistent desktop (an image that persists between reboots) to ensure the app can preserve your settings, task history, and scheduled tasks.
If you are using a remote server session, operations will continue to run as long as the server is not asleep.
For browser authentication, Edge runtime is necessary. ShareGate Migrate installs with a bootstrapper to ensure you have the latest version of Edge runtime. For more information, see Edge runtime installation failed (Internet Explorer deprecation).
