Use the sharing link insights in ShareGate Protect to find the links that put your content most at risk, ranked by severity.
Each insight names one risky condition, such as Anyone links that never expire. Most appear under both Prevent oversharing and Improve Copilot results in Insights, so you can start with the highest-risk links without building filters first.
Sharing link insights
ShareGate Protect includes these insights for sharing links and SharePoint sites:
Insight | Severity | Category |
Links accessible by anyone that never expire | High | Prevent oversharing and Improve Copilot results |
Links that allow anyone to edit documents, no sign-in required | High | Prevent oversharing and Improve Copilot results |
Links that give people outside your organization access to files and folders | Medium | Prevent oversharing and Improve Copilot results |
SharePoint sites with no sensitivity label applied | Medium | Prevent oversharing and Improve Copilot results |
Expired sharing links ready to be cleaned up | Low | Control sprawl |
Anyone links let anyone with the URL open the content without signing in. After an internal user opens an Anyone link, the content becomes searchable for that user, and findable by their Copilot.
Sites with no sensitivity label
This insight lists SharePoint sites that have no sensitivity label applied. A site without a label has no classification, so policies such as encryption and access restrictions aren't enforced on its content automatically. Unlabeled sites could surface sensitive data in Copilot results.
Note: If your tenant has no published sensitivity labels, every site matches this insight.
Recommended actions
Each insight includes recommended next steps. Depending on the insight, these include:
Setting an expiration date on a link
Switching a link to view-only access
Replacing a link with a specific-people link or a people-in-your-org link
Revoking a link
Deleting expired links in bulk
Applying a sensitivity label to a site
View a workspace's activity
Use the Activity log tab in workspace details to see every action taken in ShareGate Protect on a single SharePoint workspace or OneDrive.
Open the workspace details for the workspace or OneDrive.
Select the Activity log tab.
The activity log is already filtered to that workspace, so you don't need to filter the global activity log. The tab shows the number of entries.
