The Sharing links report is a ShareGate Protect report that lists all files and folders in your tenant that are shared using anonymous or company-wide links, along with key details for each.
Accessing the Sharing links report
To access the Sharing links report:
Select Reporting in the ShareGate Protect sidebar menu.
Click on the Sharing links box.
Note: During the initial crawl, ShareGate Protect may take some time to index all sharing links in your tenant. In complex Microsoft 365 environments, this can take up to a few weeks.
Sharing links report
The report displays:
The total number of sharing links found.
The Link type (for example, External people, Anyone with the link).
The File name.
The File type (File or Folder).
The Created by account.
The Link created on date.
The Shared with recipient.
The Site / Name of the SharePoint site where the item lives.
The File URL.
Use the Filters button to narrow results by link type, file type, or other criteria. Click Export to download the report as a CSV file.
Understanding the File URL column
The File URL column shows the web URL that Microsoft Graph returns for each item. Microsoft returns two different URL formats depending on the file type.
Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and similar) return an Office Online launcher URL in this format:
.../\_layouts/15/Doc.aspx?sourcedoc={GUID}
This URL identifies the file by an internal GUID rather than its location, so the library and folder path are not visible in the URL.
Other file types (images, PDFs, and similar) return the canonical SharePoint path, including the library and folder names.
