Symptoms
A user receives a workspace invitation email but cannot complete the acceptance process. When they click Accept invite, they get an error stating their email is blocked or is not a business email address.
This issue is most common with email addresses that contain special characters such as an underscore (_).
Details
This error was caused by ShareGate Home's login form filtering out email addresses that contain certain special characters. The affected user may have received the invitation email, but the system rejected their address when they tried to accept the invite.
A fix was deployed in April 2026 to stop the login form from rejecting email addresses that contain special characters such as underscores.
Solution
If a user with a special character in their email address is getting this error:
Ask the workspace admin to revoke the existing invitation.
Have the admin resend the invitation to the affected user.
Ask the user to try accepting the new invitation.
If the problem persists after the user retries, contact ShareGate support with the affected email address so the team can verify whether the address is on a rejection list.
