Symptoms

You receive this error:

Versioning must be enabled and the number of major versions must be between 1 and 50000

Error code

  • IN-176-056

Details

This error occurred following a Microsoft 365 update that now requires a major version limit to be set. Our development team was quick in implementing a solution, and you will no longer get the error as of ShareGate Migrate version 13.1.5.

Solution

Update to the latest ShareGate Migrate version. To ensure you are updating to the latest version, please download and run the installer directly from our website.

Note: To verify what version of ShareGate Migrate you have, click on Settings in the bottom left corner of the app. You will see the version number in the General section at the top of the screen.
