ShareGate's end-user app lets you access your organization's SharePoint team site creation templates. Creating SharePoint team sites from the end-user app ensures new SharePoint sites have ideal settings.

Create a SharePoint team site from a template

In Microsoft Teams:

  1. Select ShareGate from the Teams sidebar.

    • If the ShareGate end-user app is not pinned in your Microsoft Teams sidebar, you can find it through the dotted menu.

  2. Click Overview at the top.

  3. Select Workspaces from the dropdown.

  4. Click + Create workspace.

  5. Select Build a collaborative website - Team site from the list of available workspace types.

  6. Click Next.

  7. Select a template and review its details.

  8. Click Use this template.

  9. Enter a site name.

  10. Provide a site description (optional).

  11. Use the search field to add site owners.

    • When you create a site, you become one of its owners. Add additional co-workers to meet the minimum owner limit set by your IT admin if necessary.

  12. Click Create site.

    • If the selected template requires approval, you'll see Send for approval instead. Click the button, and you'll receive a notification when an approver has responded to your request. You can view the status of your request from the end-user app.

Considerations

  • Site names are limited to 50 characters. There are some unsupported characters (for example, / and *).

  • You can't proceed to step (9) unless you have assigned the minimum number of owners required by your IT admin for your chosen template.

  • There are no drafts. Your progress does not get saved if you click Exit.
