Symptoms

When trying to download a document from Box, one of the following errors is shown:

This document is currently locked by another user and can not be retrieved.

This document is currently locked by an inactive user and can not be retrieved.

Error code

  • AN-119-032

Details

Box can lock a file and prevent others from downloading it.

To bypass the problem, ShareGate Migrate used the Box credentials to download it.

This can cause problems in two cases:

1. If the user who is migrating is not admin. If you are not an admin, you can not use the Box credential since you do not have the rights.

2. If the user who has locked the file is inactive. You can not use the credentials of an inactive user.

Solution

You must manually unlock the document.

Access you options and click Lock.

Uncheck Disable download.

The option should show as Unlocked.

As an admin, you will also be able to see if any inactive users have locked documents by hovering your mouse over the lock icon.
