Symptoms

ShareGate Migrate displays the following error:

Missing permissions on some files or folders.

Missing users or groups on some files or folders.

Error code

  • AN-096-263

This error occurs when ShareGate Migrate tries to access a file or folder on your file system, but you do not have the required permissions to read the file.

Note: You can get this error if you are using an Active Directory with multiple forests or linked domains. This scenario is not fully supported by Source analysis.

Even though you get the error on your items in this scenario, you should not get that error when you perform your migration.

Details

If the error message indicates that the user or group was not found, it may mean that ShareGate Migrate is experiencing connectivity issues with your domain.

Solution

For missing permissions:

Add read access rights to your user for the files and folders you want to perform operations on, or ask your administrator to do so.

โ€‹If you are connected with a domain account:

Ensure that you have access to your domain controller.

โ€‹If you are connected using a local account and you use a domain account to access the network drive:

You may need to log on to your computer using a domain account. ShareGate Migrate needs to be able to query your domain to determine if you have the required permissions.
