URLs that are contained in documents will not be corrected

Updated over a month ago

Symptoms

When migrating documents, URLs contained in the document (either in the content or its properties) that link to the source server still link to the source at the destination.

For example, Word documents containing hyperlinks might still point to the original SharePoint source location at the destination after your migration.

Details

ShareGate Migrate does not manipulate the content of documents. As such, any URL in the documents themselves or the settings of these documents will not be corrected to link to the new destination server.

However, while it does not extend to updating document content links, ShareGate does provide automatic link updating in SharePoint pages, lists, and libraries, which can be toggled in your copy options.

You can manually update these links in your documents before or after your migration.
