Available option

Microsoft Azure storage account selection

You can use the provided Azure storage account or a custom Azure storage account in Insane Mode.

The Azure storage account is used to temporarily store your data during an Insane mode migration.

For more information, see Insane mode for Microsoft 365.

Default storage account

The default Azure storage account is included with your tenant. You can use this storage solution for no extra cost.

Custom storage account

You can provide your storage account. For more information, see Insane mode for Microsoft 365.

Note: We do not recommend using a custom storage account unless you need long-term access to your manifest packages.

Manifest packages are instructions sent to Microsoft 365 along with your files during an Insane mode migration. These files are rarely useful in limited troubleshooting scenarios.

With a custom storage you'll incur standard Azure storage fees and if it's in a different data center than your tenant it can even cause migrations to run slower than with the default storage account.
