If ShareGate Migrate is installed on a machine with no internet access or that cannot reach the ShareGate services necessary for activation, you can perform an offline activation to link that machine to your account and use an activation available in your Workspace.
Note: The option to activate ShareGate Migrate offline is available only on machines that are not connected to the Internet or cannot reach ShareGate services.
Do not use offline activation as an alternative to activating ShareGate Migrate for a service account that has no mailbox access.
Instead, when inviting someone to a ShareGate workspace, use their regular business account. Once they activate ShareGate Migrate on their machine, they can use a different service account to connect to SharePoint and Microsoft 365 in the app.
Activate ShareGate Migrate offline
Install and open ShareGate Migrate on your offline machine.
You will see the Offline machine activation screen.
If you see a sign-in page instead, click Sign in. The offline activation option appears as long as the machine is offline or cannot reach the licensing server.
Copy the one-time activation code for later use on a machine with internet access.
On a machine with internet access, sign in to ShareGate Home.
Click on your workspace's name in the top-right corner of the screen.
Select Workspace overview from the dropdown.
Select Activate an offline machine.
Paste the activation code from step 3.
Check I understand this will use an activation in [your workspace name].
Click Next.
Copy or download the confirmation code.
Return to ShareGate Migrate on the offline machine.
Paste the confirmation code.
Click Activate.
Your copy of ShareGate Migrate is now active, and the activation is marked as used offline in the Workspace overview in ShareGate Home.
Deactivate ShareGate Migrate offline
Sign in to ShareGate Home.
Click on your workspace's name in the top-right corner of the screen.
Select Workspace overview from the dropdown.
Click the trash icon next to the offline activation you want to remove.
Copy the deactivation code.
Open ShareGate Migrate on the offline machine.
Select Settings from the main sidebar menu.
Select Workspace.
Select Deactivate offline machine.
Paste the deactivation code.
Check I understand this will remove my access to most features of Migrate in this workspace.
Click Deactivate.
Copy the confirmation code.
Return to ShareGate Home.
Click Next if you are still on the Deactivation Code screen.
Paste the confirmation code.
Click Confirm deactivation.
The activation is now free to use on a new installation of ShareGate Migrate or for another Windows user.
Transfer an offline activation
To transfer an offline activation, deactivate it as described above. The freed activation returns to the workspace pool and can then be used with a new ShareGate Migrate installation.
