Offline activations

If ShareGate Migrate is installed on an offline machine, you can perform an offline activation to link that machine to your ShareGate workspace and use the application.

Note: Offline activations are only possible on a machine that is not connected to the Internet or that cannot access the licensing server.

If your machine has internet access on a network that does not block access to the server, you must sign in to your ShareGate account to activate it.

Activate ShareGate Migrate offline

  1. Install and open ShareGate Migrate on your offline machine.

  2. You will get greeted with an Offline machine activation screen.

    • If you get the page to sign in, click the Sign in button, and you should get an option for offline activation as long as you are offline or if ShareGate Migrate cannot reach the licensing server.

  3. Copy the one-time activation code for later use on another machine with online access.

  4. Open ShareGate home.

  5. Sign in to your ShareGate account.

  6. Select Workspace settings

  7. Select Or activate an offline machine.

  8. Paste or enter the one-time activation code you got at step (3).

  9. Add a check mark to I understand this will use an activation in [your tenant name].

  10. Click Next.

  11. Copy or download the confirmation code.

  12. Return to ShareGate Migrate.

  13. Paste or enter the confirmation code.

  14. Click Activate.

  15. Your copy of ShareGate Migrate becomes active, and the activation gets marked as used offline in your workspace settings in ShareGate Home.

Deactivate ShareGate Migrate offline

  1. Open ShareGate home.

  2. Sign in to your ShareGate account.

  3. Select Workspace settings.

  4. Click the trashcan icon for the offline activation you want to deactivate.

  5. Copy the deactivation code.

  6. Open ShareGate Migrate.

  7. Select Settings from the main sidebar menu.

  8. Select Workspace.

  9. Select Deactivate offline machine.

  10. Paste or enter your deactivation code.

  11. Add a check mark to I understand this will remove my access to most features of Migrate in this workspace.

  12. Click Deactivate.

  13. Copy the confirmation code.

  14. Return to ShareGate Home.

  15. Click Next if you are still in the Deactivation Code screen.

  16. Paste or enter the confirmation code.

  17. Click Confirm deactivation.

  18. Your machine activation is freed for use on a new installation of ShareGate Migrate or for another Windows user.

Transfer an offline activation

To transfer an offline activation, you must deactivate it using the steps above. You will then be able to use the freed activation with a new ShareGate Migrate installation.
