When you run ShareGate Protect's Governance risk assessment or migration assessment, you have the option to run it in one of two regions: North America (NA) or Europe (EU).
When you select your region to store the assessment's data at rest, a global or privileged role admin must consent to the Microsoft 365 permission scope for that region.
When you connect to one of the assessments for the first time, you will be prompted to select which region to use for the data at rest.
Once selected, the data collected by the assessment will remain in that region. The only way to remove this data is to revoke the consented permission scope by deleting its associated Enterprise app in Entra ID.
If you change the region in the app's dropdown to change the region for an existing assessment, a global or privileged role admin will need to consent to the permission scope for the new region. This process will not delete the data in the previous region.
To properly remove the data in the old region, a global or privileged role admin can revoke consent and then reconsent to the appropriate permissions for the new region.
Note: Your data is encrypted and remains secure in all regions.
