Set up your Google Workspace for migration with ShareGate Migrate

Updated over a week ago

With Import from Google Drive and Copy from Gmail (currently in beta), you can connect to your Google Workspace as an admin to import the files of all your users' Google Drives without manually connecting to each account, and to migrate Gmail content to Microsoft 365.

Setup

To use administrator mode with Import from Google Drive or Copy from Gmail (currently in beta), you must set up a few things in your Google Workspace.

Obtain Super Admin permission

Ensure you have the Super Admin permission in your Google Apps admin console. You can ask another Super Admin for that permission if you don't.

To help, share this Google article with your Super Admin: Make a user an admin.

Delegate domain-wide authority

Delegate domain-wide authority to the ShareGate Migrate service account.

How-to

Once everything is set up, you can select administrator mode when connecting to your Google Workspace with Import from Google Drive or start using the Copy from Gmail beta.

Note: When you log in as an administrator, the ShareGate Migrate view differs from the normal Google Drive explorer. The root folder will be the domain from which you logged in. This may not be the primary domain associated with your Google Apps account.
